All our traffic signs are made from 5050-H38 aluminum. What that means is that
we use high quality aluminum with a specific hardness as required by the US
Government and all 50 states and Canada . Our aluminum comes in thicknesses of
.040, .063, .080, .100, and .125 inches.
The aluminum is put through several processes to make it ready to use,
including a leveling process that flattens the aluminum so that the signs will
never warp or curl. This is important as most sheet aluminum comes in rolls.
Another process is the alodizing process, which is a chemical treatment that
prevents the aluminum from corroding.
We use only 3MT Vinyls on our Traffic Signs. 3MT is known for producing the
highest quality vinyl films available. There are three grades of film
available:
-
Engineering Grade - 3MT Series 3270 has a 5-7 year lifespan and is the most
commonly used for street and highway signs
-
High Intensity - 3MT Series 3990 has a 10 year lifespan and is used frequently
with Warning Signs, Stop Signs, and similar signs that demand the driver's full
attention.
-
Diamond Grade-VIP - 3MT Series 3870 has a 10 year lifespan and due to its
Micro-Prismatic Lens Sheeting is the brightest of all reflective materials.
Many municipalities now require all Stop Signs and other important Directional
or Warning Signs and the like to use Diamond Grade vinyl sheeting.
