Question: Will [a] decal harm [the] painted surfaces of my vehicle?

Answer: No. In fact, it provides a sunscreen to your vehicle’s paint, which is why we don’t advise you to put decals on your car’s painted surfaces unless they’re permanent.

If you put a bumper sticker on the painted surface of your trunk, for instance, and remove it 3 years later, the other paint on the vehicle may have faded somewhat, but the paint under the sticker will be a little newer looking and less faded.

If you’re also wondering if removing a decal or sticker from your car’s painted surfaces, unless you have a really poor quality paint job on your vehicle, it is highly unlikely that a decal can remove paint, and certainly, the acrylic adhesives used on decals won’t affect the chemistry of the paint.

The best and easiest way to remove the sticker from your car will be to apply heat to the surface, using a hair dryer or a heat gun. This will loosen the glue’s grip and make it so you can peel the vinyl decal from your vehicle.

If it leaves glue residue, and often they do, especially if it’s been there a long time (over a year), you can purchase glue remover (orange peel) at most hardware or home improvement stores. You’ll simply apply the remover to the glue, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off with a paper towel. Re-do this step as needed.

Question: Can vinyl car decals be applied to t shirts?

Answer: No. At least not for very long. You can put stickers on your shirt, though, and ruin your shirt if you leave it on too long.

If you want graphics on a T-shirt, there are shops around your neighborhood (in most areas of the US) that will put a graphic on a T-shirt(s) for you. These can be washed and will last a good while.

If you want lots of T-shirts with graphics on them, you will probably want to contact a T-shirt screen printer, though, as they’re a lot less expensive than the previously mentioned shirt printers.

Question: What may reduce vinyl to last a shorter time?

Answer: Most vinyl decals and stickers will last 2-3 years out-of-doors. However, you’ve asked how the life of a vinyl sticker might be adversely affected. Let’s see…

Sun is probably the biggest offender that will reduce the life of a decal. It attacks not only the vinyl, but the print as well, causing it to fade. Cheaper vinyl decals will often pull away from whatever they are stuck to in direct sunlight.

Salt water is also not too good for decals, unless they are laminated with a salt water resistant laminate, which are available. However, most of you won’t need to worry about this unless you live on the ocean where the wind sprays saltwater into area where you have decals.

Rain, Wind and Snow are typically not a threat to vinyl stickers. But chemicals can be. Certain laminates will protect decals from light chemicals like gasoline or paint thinner, but few can resist lacquer thinner or MEK.

Sheets and sheets of stickers (also known as decals or labels) are printed up every day. But what does the average person know about sticker printing.

The first thing is – the more that you print, the more economical the price will be. This is a basic fact of life but it’s particularly true for printing stickers. In the past, this rule was difficult for most small business owners because a small order would be very expensive for them to afford. Only big companies would be able to create a specialized sticker with their company logo or product advertising on it. Thankfully, with increased technology, sticker printing has become easily affordable so that many small-sized businesses, sports teams, or individuals can have custom stickers printed.

When it comes to decal printing, there are a few standard shapes on the market. There are geometric shapes, like a circle, square, rectangle and oval. There are also narrow rectangles (like a name badge), a star shape, triangle, and the ever popular heart-shape.

Besides the shape, size must be determined – small, medium or large? Average stickers can range in size from 1 “ to 12“ in length, to 1″ x 12″ in height. Of course, large format digital printing has made it so the sky is the limit on sizing. With smaller decals, many are screen-printed on sheets that are 20″ x 28″ or 26″ x 38″ Larger decals and stickers are usually printed nowadays using digital roll-to-roll printers that can print up to 60″ wide by 150′ in length. If there are a thousand small labels to print, it will be up to the printer if it is more economical to screen print or print the stickers digitally.

Stickers are often used to label personal objects – like books, binders, pencil cases, lunch pail, or just about anything else that will hold an adhesive sticker.

If you want a custom sticker, it is easy to create. Just provide your own design, logo, photograph, slogan or whatever you like, and personalize it further with your favorite font, color, and edging, if you choose. The unique combination you decide upon will be one of a kind, something you can be proud of!

Peel and stick features make it easy to place your stickers on whatever you like (as long as it’s legal!). Laminating your printed stickers also keeps your sticker looking fresh and vibrant even after it’s been out and about for awhile. This is the mark of a quality sticker. It stays stuck on and the color doesn’t easily fade.

If you love stickers, decal printing is able to be done in different shapes and sizes, besides the standard shapes like circles, rectangles, or ovals. Bumper stickers are another form of sticker printing. There are thousands of catchy slogans to choose from, but personalized designs are also encouraged! They are often placed on automobiles’ back bumper or window, but not always. They are sort of like the billboards of decal printing, and for good reason – their messages can be used to startle, entertain or provoke. Large in size and good-natured in temperament, they are meant to be read in traffic, so they need to be colorful and concise in order to be legible from a moving vehicle.

On the small end of the scale is the address label. Small but important, they are an essential link in the chain of sticker printing! What would your postman do for all the returned letters that lack address labels? Many people’s handwriting is atrocious at best, and address labels serve an important purpose.

When you go looking for a quality manufacturer for your next batch of stickers or decals, be sure to find one with a top notch Better Business Bureau rating. It’s important to know who you are doing business with at the outset. Someone who has a low rating may likely disappoint you insofar as poor quality or poor business practices.

Most business people prefer to do business with someone they can trust. If for any reason that the project did not turn out as well as planned, the manufacturer should stand behind the work and make sure that a suitable product is made to the customer’s satisfaction. No need to panic, just follow up so that all parties are satisfied. This is the mark of a good business man and a level worth aspiring towards with your sticker printing.

Kids love them! Adults have fun with them too! Vinyl decals are all about making an impression and making sure yours stands out from the rest! What stands out, you may ask? Well, just about anything you choose. Vinyl decals go on automobile windows, truck windows, skate boards, computer cases, school locker doors, work benches and tables, tractors, trailers, and refrigerators. Just about anything you can name has been seen bearing decals and stickers promoting something or just to identify whose property the item is. Decals can be bright and colorful or simply provide the name of whoever bought them. They can be instructive or provide a warning! They can be large or small. Vinyl decals can be round or square, rectangular or cut into individual letters and numbers. Some are removable while others may stay in place for the millennium!

Plain to fancy vinyl decals are found everywhere!

Mailboxes usually bear an address and perhaps the name of that box’s recipient and these will often be in the form of vinyl lettering and/or numbers. These die cut vinyl letters and numbers can be found on sheets that contain the entire alphabet plus numbers 0 through 9. This set of perforated digits can easily be removed and placed on mailboxes, porches, and front doors or windows to identify who lives there very inexpensively. Choose from reflective, metallic, opaque, even holographic styles in a wide choice of colors and styles to individualize your property. They can even be back faced with adhesive or made with face-adhesive so you can choose to apply them inside or outside your doors or windows.

Protective decals save the day!

Decals made of polycarbonate material can be applied to almost any surface that receives a lot of wear and will protect the surface, keeping it safe from abrasion or scratches. Things like computer keyboards, appliances, office equipment, electronics, telephones, face plates, and various types of machinery can all be saved from excessive wear and tear on their surface. Besides protecting surfaces these attractive and useful decals can literally save live and time by warning of dangers or cautioning about some form of changes ahead. Baby on Board vinyl decals stuck on vehicle back bumpers are yet another example of a warning that will, hopefully, cause others to take care and perhaps even slow down! Detour signs can be quickly and easily put together to warn of temporary construction or other delays and offer directions on how to avoid problems. Warnings of high voltage or guard dog on duty may cause others to heed that warning and be more aware. This type of warning can easily be removed once the situation returns to normal, and do it very affordably.

Kids love to stick ‘em everywhere!

Buy your child a set of brightly colored self-adhesive vinyl stickers and they will amuse themselves for hours! They can be applied to their bed’s headboard, their dresser, bedroom walls and doors, windows, books, and many of their toys. Just be sure to warn them if the stickers are of the permanently variety! School age kids may apply their stickers to the inside of their lockers or even onto their notebooks. A bicycle is a popular place to add some stickers too.

Domed Polyurethane for that 3-D effect!

Some decals appear to have a domed appearance and look thicker than the usual vinyl decals. This is due to the thick coating of Polyurethane which provides a depth to the decal while also protecting it from wear. Highly flexible, these decals are favored by electronic product manufacturers for use on many products and found as raised lettering or embossed logos and brand names. Just about any use you can imagine may well include one or more forms of vinyl decal or sticker.

Window decals come in all shapes and sizes. They can be big flowers to add a fanciful decor to your front window, small square boxes showing your store operating hours, and much more. They also tell your customer what types of credit cards you accept in your place of business. They are also suitable for a custom-designed logo – like a cartoon character symbolizing your business. Maybe your logo is a road runner for a quick response team, or a little teddy bear for a children’s toy store. Window decals can be transparent, or with a deep, sun-resistant colored backing. They may be in a simple geometric shape, like house security system window decals, or in the shape of a cloud, flower or other object.

Window decals don’t just belong on the windows of office buildings or shops. They are often used on automobiles. Vinyl or polyester window stickers may be used as parking permits, for city parking, college or university parking places or pre-registered numbers assigned to or for car employees. Window stickers are used to show flags of citizenship or national heritage, like an American flag, the state ofNew Yorkor another nostalgic identifier. Kids of all ages love window decals, and it’s not unusual for a grown up to have a strong attachment to a cartoon character.

Window stickers may also be for safety or neighborhood watch associations. The window decals usually are traditionally shaped and quite serious looking. Window decals serve an important purpose – notify passersby who you are and what you stand for in case of a security breach in the neighborhood.

Window stickers are also great for advertising. A small transparent sign stating your company name, service and contact number can be effective and visible. There are even safety stickers advising the reader to buckle their safety belts, close their window and adjust their rear view mirror before driving! Some of these window decals are often used on company vehicles to encourage more responsible driving habits.

Car insurance companies are also a big believer in window decals and stickers. They advertise their insurance services on the automobiles they insure, whether they are private or commercial vehicles. It also serves as an advertisement of the company name and further brand name recognition, killing two birds in one stone.

Car alarm firms do the same thing – warn the potential thief before hand that he is in for an unpleasant surprise! No doubt about it, window stickers serve many purposes. They warn, inform, provide advertising information, permit parking or show national pride. Many clubs and associations, like the Automobile Association of America (aka Triple A or AAA) are famous for their window stickers. The tow truck driver often identifies the stalled auto by its membership to the club – and what better way to determine which auto than by its blue oval-shaped AAA decal?

The window decals may be simply vinyl-based, colorful, basic and attractive. But there are other materials as well. Window stickers can be made of reflective material as well. They can even be glow-in-the-dark to be visible at night when they are the most needed.

Fanciful or functional, window decals have become a part of life that few people could imagine living without. The window sticker provides instant information about the car or home owner of the window where it is plainly displayed. This information is neither flashy nor promotional in most cases, but serves an important need and allows the viewer to reasonably quickly gather the necessary information. Window decals are concentrated in informational potency – they aren’t that large, but the information they convey is very timely and important.

Communication is all about sending a message. Whether it’s by way of traffic signs that tell you how fast to go and where to turn, vinyl stickers with an informative message, or magnetic signs that advertise by providing directions or a personal type message, we see signs of all sizes everywhere we go. Most likely those little decals and vinyl stickers our kids love to play with are just the beginning of learning about signs and how very effective they are as a means of communication. My real estate agent has those magnetic signs on the side of her vehicle that promote not only her name but the company she works for as well. Those cheap vinyl signs are pulling double duty and it works quite well, especially in today’s economy.

Promotion is the name of the game!

One of the most expensive parts of running any business is the advertising but without it many businesses would languor in anonymity and soon they’ll simply be gone. How can a business enterprise, especially a new one, effectively put those advertising dollars to work? By getting their name out there before the public. They need to make their company name and logo (if they have one) a “household name”, one that folks think of first when they want a particular service. If the business specializes in plumbing for example, they must put that word foremost on their signage because it’s just as important as their company name. Modern signs can be made from plastic, wood, rubber, and glass (neon) depending on the purpose and location of their intended use. Outdoor signs are usually large and brightly colored to attract attention of passersby. Signs that are intended for inside use such as on doors, windows, desks, and other furniture can be made from plastics of all sorts and thicknesses.

Decals are the fun part of signage!

Kids love them! Adults do too. We buy vinyl decals and vinyl stickers to promote or just to boast about our accomplishments. We identify our belongings, pledge loyalty to our favorite teams, decree loyalty to our elected officials, and even tell the world where our kid goes to school. Decals are fun and generally brightly colored with stand out lettering printed on them. Order some decals for your family and wear them proudly to the next home game or family picnic. Let the kids stick them onto their school bag and ball cap, indentifying their personal taste in the things that matter most to them. Those tiny stickers that come with many children’s items can be fun to exchange or collect just as we have saved postage stamps and match book covers. There doesn’t have to be a specific purpose for decals and stickers, and that’s part of the fun of using them!

Order your decals for walls and custom wall decals from a reputable dealer who will give you a guarantee and feel safe knowing they will be well made and last for years to come.

Vinyl letters and vinyl signs state your business with a flash of color

Don’t be afraid to be bold in your advertising with brightly colored vinyl sticker and lettering and perhaps vinyl removable wall decals that can be moved to another space of your own choosing. Large and small, vinyl decals and vinyl lettering for walls are standouts that grab the attention of customers and the public in general. Try out some custom vinyl banners to fly outside the business and see how much attention they draw! The art of advertisement (and never doubt it is an art) is how to effectively bring in new customers while also keeping those you’ve already sold to, coming back for more! Signs are visual reminders and they represent you and the business you depend on so bring it out bright with a visual flair that lets the world know what you have to offer with your vinyl stickers and signs. Discover an array of vinyl graphics here.
