Mesh banners are an effective tool in the world of outdoor advertising. Made of varying weight vinyl material with tiny holes (perforations) that allow air to pass through, these banners are used mainly in low to medium-wind areas such as construction sites or outdoor events.

Not only do they withstand various windy weather conditions, but with their perforated wind slippage, versatility and durability, mesh banners are quite popular with companies or organizations requiring outdoor advertising that won’t be blown away.

Mesh banners have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their unique features and practicality.

What are Mesh Banners?

Made from a durable, sturdy material, these banners are designed with perforated vinyl that allows wind to flow through the banners, making them a good choice for some outdoor advertising venues such as sporting events crowd control, and low to medium wind areas. Whether you’re looking to attract attention to your business or promote an upcoming event, mesh banners can be the best choice for your outdoor marketing campaign.

What are Vinyl Mesh and Billboard Banners? Plus, the recommended fabric banner printing image resolution.

Question: What are Mesh Vinyl Banners?

Mesh vinyl banners are PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or “vinyl” banners whose reinforced nylon fibers are separated and coated in a mesh pattern in order to reduce wind load on the banners.

Mesh vinyl banners allow about 10 to 15% air slippage, about two to three times what wind pockets will afford. And wind pockets are just plain unattractive, as I’ve mentioned in the past.

My opinion is that the best option is to use a solid vinyl banner material,
 Keep Reading →

Do outdoor banners need wind slits? Sublimated versus DSG displays. And, is it normal for a banner to have a glare look?

Question: Do outdoor graphics require wind slits?

This is a favorite topic of mine as there are so many misconceptions about wind slits or wind pockets being cut into banners.

Reduction of Wind Load

Wind pockets allow about 4-5% wind load reduction on vinyl banners, which, in our opinion, is negligible and makes the banners weaker and uglier. Quite frankly, I think wind slits in outdoor vinyl banners are just ugly.
