How To Install Hood Decals Onto Your Car

The Correct Installation of Hood Decal Graphics on Vehicles

Question:  Does anyone know the proper way to put a hood decal on?

Very carefully! Actually, the question should be “Did you purchase the right decal material, and if not, why not?” It is very important when dealing with large decals covering an area with multiple curvatures such as almost every part of an automobile that you use a decal material that is meant to be installed over this type of substrate.

Considering the Type of Decal You Have

If you purchased a decal made of a vinyl decal material that was intended to be installed on a flat surface such as a window or a flat sign face,

The Best Time to Apply Window and Hood Car Decals

When to Apply Car Window and Hood Decals – Waxing and Rain

Question:  Should I put a decal on the hood of my car before or after I wax it?

Yes. You can do either without any problems, although there are some who advocate stripping the car down and waxing it first because then, when you want to remove the sticker, it is not going to have an area that looks different from the waxed area where the decal came from.

If you are worried about a vinyl car sticker or decal adhering to the wax,

Removing Window Stickers Off a New Car, and Buying Boat Decals

Taking Stickers Off Car Window Effectively, and Where You Can Buy UV/Saltwater-Resistant Boat Decals

Question: There are a bunch of stickers on the windows of the car I just purchased. How do I get those off without damaging my “new” car?

Glass has one big advantage to many other surfaces. You don’t necessarily need to use heat to remove decals from it. However, you can use heat if you choose to, a hair dryer on high heat or a heat gun on low heat will both suffice.

However, I’ve removed thousands of stickers and graphics from vehicle windows as well as from storefront windows or the like,

Putting Decals on Tinted Windows, & Removing from Laptops/Metal Buckets

When to Apply Decals to Tinted Windows and How to Remove Stickers from Laptops and Metal Buckets

Question:  Is it OK to put a sticker or decal on my rear car window before having the windows tinted.

It depends on which side you put the sticker on. Because window tinting is done on the inside of the glass, it would be a poor choice to put a sticker on the inside of the glass before the tinting is done. The person or company applying the window tinting will let you know how many days the tinting should be on the window before applying the sticker to the window.

Questions About Placing and Removing Stickers – Decals

Decal Stickers on Velvet, Wipers, Car Paint, Easy Removal, and Against Windshield Wipers

Question:  What is the best way to get a decal to stick to velvet? Will a decal or sticker work?

No, or at least none that I know of. Acrylic adhesives will adhere to the fabric somewhat, but not for long. And do NOT wash any fabric or garment EVER with an adhesive sticker, as you’ll likely never fully remove the adhesive. Applying decals to velvet will produce the same result as you would with any other fabric.

Velvet, as with many materials,

Removing Car Decal Wrinkles & Putting Stickers on Tinted Windows

How to Eliminate Wrinkles from Window Decals and Installing Car Stickers on Windows with Tints

Question:  How do I remove a wrinkle from a car window decal?

The answer will depend on when you installed it. If it’s been under 4 hours, a little heat from a hair dryer and carefully peeling the sticker back  until the wrinkle has been lifted, then a little heat to soften the decal, and it should lay down relatively flat, with maybe a hint that it was wrinkled at one time, but not so you’d notice.

On the other hand,

Removing Reflective Stickers Off License Plates, & Car Decals on Defroster Lines

Easy Removal of Reflective Stickers From License Plates, and Effect of Car Decals on the Line Defroster

Question: How do I remove the reflective tab sticker from my license plate?

I assume you’re talking about the reflective date sticker? Generally speaking, at least for most people I know, we just keep piling this year’s sticker on top of last year’s reflective sticker. Of course, if you are a perfectionist, this might not be an option for you, in which case, we feel sympathy for your wife or husband.

As with most stickers, the best way to remove them is to use some heat.

Waxing Your Car Before/After Decal Application-Personalized Stickers

Best Time to Apply Vinyl Decals on Cars and How to Make Your Own Stickers Plus How to Remove Decals From Glass

Question:    I purchased “brand X” wash and wax and need to know if there’ll be any problems if I apply vinyl decals to my car after I wash it or later when I wash over the decals?

This is a good question. I asked some of my colleagues in the business to see if my hunch was correct, because we have never worried about wash and wax products being used ahead of lettering or applying vinyl graphics to a clean vehicle,

Taking Decals Off Football Helmets and Removable Stickers

How to Remove Decals From Helmets and Making Stickers That Are Easy to Remove

Question:  When putting decals on a Football Helmet Visor, how do you remove the black decals that come on the visor?

If the sticker or decal that is on the visor is an easy peel vinyl, it should remove easily, but if it’s a standard adhesive, it can be difficult to remove.

In this case, what you’d need to do is get a hair dryer and heat the decal up enough that it is quite warm – but not hot – to the touch.

Xbox Controller & Sports Logo Stickers, & Label Printing with an Inkjet

Suitable Stickers for Xbox Controllers, Printing Labels using Inkjet Printers, and Finding Sports Team Decals

Question:  I have an Xbox 360 controller and I want to know what kind of stickers will stick best to it.

Any sticker with a permanent (standard) glue adhesive should stick fine. Avoid static cling stickers as they are meant for surfaces like glass or acrylic (super smooth and hard plastics).

There are a lot of sites that sell individual stickers online, so you should be able to find one or two that have what you’re looking for,
