Personalized Outdoor Signage

Do you know where you’re going?  Even if you don’t, outdoor signs can make a difference in making, and missing the boat for a business appointment, agreement with friends, or an affair of the heart.

Even the best made plans can go awry, and a convenient, well-placed metal signage can make all the difference in getting to where you need to go.  Haven’t you ever experienced the other person holding a grudge after having had to arrive even a little bit later than originally planned!

Intersection Road

We see them everywhere we go and are expected to “heed” them all the time. While driving these business, street, or road signs guide us and instruct us about what’s ahead and let us know how to act and react.

Think of those octagon, square, rectangular, and round signage as directions and warnings for what we must pay attention to. Where do they come from and how come they are practically universally identical no matter which state you are driving in?

Government and local municipalities specifically use various traffic guidance posts inside and outside of their facilities.

Sandblasted HDU Sanblasted Cedar or Sandblasted Redwood

It is highly likely that the first signs that man made in “prehistoric” times were made from wood. And here I have to digress. How does anyone know when prehistoric times started and ended? And if they’re prehistoric, who determines where history began? So really, does “prehistoric” just mean we don’t know our own history?

How Custom Wood Signs Shaped History – Or Did History Shape It?

At any rate, since that custom wood sign decayed thousands of years ago, nobody knows the moment when the first human being, using a CNC router and engraving machine,

Sandblasting Signs – Best Materials to Make a Sandblast Sign

High Density Urethane wood signage

Most of you reading this article probably will never make sandblasting signs, but if you want to know about the process of making them, this article will be very informative in that regard.

In about 1870, Benjamin C. Tilghman invented and patented a method that used high-pressured air to powerfully drive an abrasive substance against wood or other surfaces to remove paint, moss, dirt, or, in the case of sandblasting, wood particles. We’re not precisely sure how long it took makers to adopt this method to create the first wood sandblasted display, but because carved wooden signs had been in existence for thousands of years,

No one knows exactly when the first caveman/woman carved their initials in a tree as a territorial marker, but we do know that wooden signage, along with cave drawings and papyrus and piles of stones, carved wood signs are one of the oldest types of guide markers.

Of course, they look a little better now than they did back then, we think. Of course, being what they were – wood – they didn’t last quite as long as the cave drawings or the clay tablets that the Mesopotamians used. Or the bronze signs that came later during the Greek and Roman Empire eras.
